The Vidarbha Orthopaedic Society (VOS), Nagpur, inaugurated its new Executive Committee for 2026–27 at a grand installation ceremony held at Hotel Radisson Blu, Nagpur. The event was graced by eminent orthopaedic surgeons Dr. Vikas Agashe, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, P.D. Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai, as the Chief Guest, and Dr. Milind Patil, renowned joint replacement surgeon, as the Guest of Honour.
The ceremony was preceded by a well-attended CME on “Infections in Orthopaedics,” attracting over 150 delegates from across the region. Experts shared the latest advances in the prevention and management of fracture related and joint replacement infections.
Dr. Unmesh Mahajan assumed office as President and unveiled the Society’s theme for the year, “Navigating Challenges, Mastering Techniques,” along with an ambitious academic calendar focused on education, skill development, and clinical excellence.
The event marked the beginning of an exciting academic year for VOS, reaffirming its commitment to advancing orthopaedic care and professional education in the region.
Nagpur, June 21, 2026: The new executive body of the Vidarbha Orthopaedic Society (VOS), Nagpur, was installed at a grand ceremony held at Hotel Radisson Blu, Nagpur, in the presence of a galaxy of stalwarts from the field of orthopaedics.
The installation ceremony was graced by renowned orthopaedic experts from Mumbai. Dr. Vikas Agashe, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at P.D. Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai, was the Chief Guest, while Dr. Milind Patil, a distinguished joint replacement surgeon from Mumbai, was the Guest of
Honour. They formally installed Dr. Unmesh Mahajan, a renowned joint replacement surgeon, as President and Dr. Vikram Sapre, a well-known sports medicine and arthroscopic surgeon, as Secretary of the Vidarbha Orthopaedic Society for the year 2026–27.
The installation ceremony was preceded by a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on “Infections in Orthopaedics”, which received an overwhelming response from the orthopaedic fraternity and was attended by more than 150 delegates from across the region.
During the CME, eminent faculty members from Mumbai and Nagpur shared their experiences and latest perspectives on the prevention, diagnosis, and management of orthopaedic infections, a major challenge in modern orthopaedic practice. Dr. Vikas Agashe enlightened the delegates on newer modalities in the treatment of fracture-related infections, while Dr. Milind Patil provided valuable insights into the prevention and management of infections following joint replacement surgeries.

Addressing the gathering after assuming office, Dr. Unmesh Mahajan announced the theme for the year, “Navigating Challenges, Mastering Techniques.” In line with this theme, he unveiled the academic calendar for the year and assured members that the society would focus on high-quality academic activities, skill enhancement and professional development. He expressed his commitment to making the year academically enriching and to further elevating the stature of the Vidarbha Orthopaedic Society on the national and global orthopaedic map.
The ceremony was attended by senior orthopaedic surgeons, academicians and practitioners from across Vidarbha. Dr. Vikram Sapre proposed the vote of thanks.
