Training Program for Operation Theatre Technicians Held at IMA Hardas Hall

The Vidarbha Orthopaedics Society and the Association of Surgeons of Nagpur jointly organized a comprehensive Operation Theatre Technician Training Program at Hardas Hall, IMA, Nagpur. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 160 operation theatre personnel, including technicians, nurses, and healthcare professionals from various hospitals across the region.

The program commenced with welcome address delivered by Dr. Satyajeet Jagtap, President Vidarbha Orthopaedics Society, Nagpur and Dr. Kanhaiya Chandak, President, Association of Surgeons, Nagpur, highlighting the significance of the training initiative.

A range of pertinent topics was covered by esteemed speakers from diverse medical disciplines:

• Dr. Divish Saxena and Dr. Amit Nemade shared insights into the importance of maintaining OT sterility from general and orthopedic surgeons’ perspectives.
• Mr. Avinash Sharma and Mr. Janardan Bhande conducted sessions on cleaning and packing surgical instruments, disinfection of large equipment, and the utility of various packing materials.
• Dr. Prashant Rahate and Dr. Mukund Ojha elaborated on managing high-end OT instruments, including endoscopic and arthroscopy tools.
• Miss Stella Mary Hamer, an infection control nurse, addressed critical aspects of infection control, hand hygiene practices, gowning, sterile glove usage, and needle-stick injury management.

The technical session on sterilization provided guidance on the operation and troubleshooting of sterilizers, autoclaves, and ETO equipment, emphasizing CSSD safety protocols.

The training was a resounding success, equipping participants with essential knowledge and practical skills to enhance operation theatre practices and ensure optimal patient safety.
